Brazil vs Serbia Betting Preview
Brazil are the highest-ranked team in the world but have not lifted the World Cup trophy since 2002. Tite has a glittering array of attacking talents at his disposal, led by Neymar, including exciting youngsters such as Raphinha, Antony, Vinicius Jr., Bruno Guimaraes and Rodrygo. The South American giants enter this match on the back of seven consecutive wins. They have only lost once in the past three years across all competitions, but unfortunately that match was the Copa America final they lost 1-0 against bitter rivals Argentina.
Serbia is making their fourth World Cup appearance as independent country. They have been eliminated in the group stage in all three World Cup appearances, losing seven of their nine World Cup games. Anyway, Dragan Stojkovic's men have impressed in qualifying this year, finishing unbeaten in their eight qualifiers and getting the better of Portugal to win their qualification group. They have lost just once in their six outings, scoring a whopping 18 goals in the process.
The last time these two nations played was in the 2018 World Cup in the group stages where the South Americans ran out 2-0 winners. Serbia also faced the Seleçao in a friendly in 2014, which Brazil won by a solitary Fred goal.
Best Odds
According to UK betting sites, Brazil are seen as fairly strong favourites to come away with the victory. 13/25 is the price on Unibet with the draw coming in at 37/10 with Vbet. Serbia backers can bet on the upsetting outcome at 6/1 with Betfred.
Probable Line-Ups
Brazil (4-3-3): Alisson; Danilo, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, A.Sandro; Casemiro, Fred, B. Guimaraes; Raphinha, Neymar, Vinicius Jr
Bremer, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta all picked up minor injuries last month so they may not be risked in this opening match. As a result, Neymar will spearhead the attack, flanked by Raphinha and Vinicius Jr. Alternatively, Tite can rely upon Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Antony. The likes of Fred and Bruno Guimaraes are expected to partner Casemiro in the middle of the park, while Thiago Silva and Marquinhos will form the centre-back pair. Juventus' full backs Alex Sandro and Danilo are likely to complete the four man backline.
Serbia (3-4-1-2): V. Milinkovic-Savic; Milenkovic, S. Mitrovic, Pavlovic; Zivkovic, Gudelj, S. Milinkovic-Savic, Kostic; Tadic; Vlahovic, Jovic
Serbia's main striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was missing from their recent friendly against Bahrain but has since recovered and will lead the line. The likes of Dusan Tadic and Luka Jovic will support the Fulham forward up front. Dusan Vlahovic, who scored a goal and provided two assists last time out, is a viable options. In midfield, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will be flanked by Nemanja Gudelj, while his brother Vanja will start between the sticks. Andrija Zivkovic and Filip Kostic will feature as wing-backs.
Brazil v Serbia Predictions
Both teams are in excellent form heading into this game. Brazil have gone 15 games without defeat while Serbia had an excellent Nations League, with just one loss in six matches.
The South Americans are solid at the back while Stojkovic's men have conceded in all 8 qualifying matches. Hence, the defense could be the key difference between these two teams.
We expect Brazil to win a nervy battle. The Correct Score could be a 2-1 or 2-0 scoreline. As to goalscorers, Vinicius Jr. is our favorite pick.
We also expect tons of bookings, and we recommend to bet on Andrija Zivkovic to be shown a card.
