ENGLAND U21 v GERMANY U21 BETTING PREVIEW
England finished as Group A table-toppers thanks to a 3-0 win against hosts Poland on Thursday. The Young Lions opened their U21 Euro campaign with a disappointing goalless draw against Sweden, and followed it with a convincing 2-1 victory over Slovakia. These two teams last met three months ago when the Germans beat England 1-0 in a friendly in Wiesbaden. That was a rare defeat for the Young Lions as Aidy Boothroyd's men have lost just two games in all competitions since June 2015.Lewis Baker started the tournament playing further forward but has dropped deeper after John Swift was introduced in the second game and is expected to continue in that role. Tammy Abraham, who was rested in the third game, is likely to spearhead the attack while Nathaniel Chalobah is likely to miss at least this game due to the apparent groin injury he suffered in the previous match. Nathan Redmond also suffered a first-half injury last time out and is a major doubt.
Germany enter the semifinals on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat against Italy on Saturday night, after two wins in the first two. They advanced to knockout stage as best runners-up, as their goal difference of +4 one better than Slovakia, who finished second in Group A. The German defence has been their core strength, as they only conceded their first goal of the competition against Italy.
Despite being largely uninvolved in the defeat to Italy, Serge Gnabry should retain his starting berth in the offensive midfield trio, alongside Max Meyer and Mitchell Weiser. Anyway Nadiem Amiri who scored the deciding goal in the above mentioned friendly against England, is pushing for a starting berth. The likes of Maximilian Arnold and Mahmoud Dahoud should feature from the off in midfield with Gideon Jung a viable alternative, while Leipzig's Davie Selke is likely to continue spearheading the attack. No changes are expected in the back four line.
